And therein lies the problem. I expected far more from her than "mediocre." I am not objective when it comes to her writings; I expect GREATNESS. Nothing here but an advertisement. My daughter was very disappointed. I was too and I hope removes this version of the book from their website.
An old favorite with a twist. Diane Setterfield's writing is so refreshing and enjoyable.
This little short story is a delightful read.

Short, humorous, and fun. It took me a couple minutes to read, and was written in a mildly descriptive, mostly "telling" voice.
This short story was, well, short. But fun and I liked it. However, I meant to write my comments for The Thirteenth Tale. My thoughts on that are as follows!
Having always preferred fiction, and having loved stories and fairy tales I was hoping this novel would be enjoyable. However, it exceeded my expectations, much to my delight. Not only was the story a ""true" story in the best Grimm Brothers sense, but the language, phrasing and beauty of expression made it rise to the top of my list. I can't wait to read more by this author.
Really a ridiculous story - but what did I expect from something titled "The Princess and the Pea"? Being a well educated person I should have know better.
Diane Setterfield is simply amazing. I love her use of the English language. I just discovered this and I laughed my way through it. I love this woman and her wonderful humor!
